Intrigues of the 2024 Governorship Election in Edo State appeared to have dove tailed into a hurting parliament, following the declaration of the election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which declared Senator Monday Okpevbolo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Governor-elect of the State.

However, since the declaration of the winner of the just-concluded election which was marred with protests and glaring irregularities, tempers were high among the politicians, as one of the prominent youth in the metropolitan area of the state whom they identified as Osas Louis Obasohan has been declared missing by his family.

Elder brother of the missing youth leader who stormed the headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo state council in protest, appeared visibly worried with his family members.

He said his younger brother’s house has been set ablaze by political thugs, a situation he described as worrisome.

He appealed to men of Fourth Estate of the Realms to help publicize the development to ascertain his whereabouts.

When asked what may have caused the sudden disappearance of the man ,the complainant who identified his younger brother as Mr Osas Louis Obasohan, lamented that the entire family is in a state of disarray following his sudden disappearance.

The senior brother of the missing man, Mr. Jolly Obasohan told journalists that the ordeal of his brother started following the announcement of Edo State Governorship Election’s results where the APC Candidate was declared winner of the election, a situation that didn’t go down well with most people, hence the onslaught on him.

Mr. Obasohan, asserted that his younger brother had earlier received several assassination threats, saying that trouble started when his brother who is a member of one of the opposition parties was accused of not joining his party people to engage in electoral violence, vote buying and other electoral malpractice, a situation his party leaders considered as betrayal, resulting in their loss at the polls.

He decried the ugly development and the pains his sudden disappearance has caused the family, noting that a case of several threats to his brother’s life was earlier lodged at the Area Command of the Nigeria Police, Benin City, and appealed to relevant government agencies to swing into action to unravel the mystery surrounding his brother’s whereabouts.

When contacted, the state Police Image Maker, Mr. Joel Iyamu said the police is aware of the case, and disclosed that it was under investigation.

As at press time, it was gathered that several opposition party members have gone into hiding for fear of the unknown.
