Man Flees After Community Set Inherited Assets On Fire As Angry Youths Vow To Kill Him

Pandemonium erupted in Ewohimi community in Esan Southeast local government area of Edo State, when angry sympathizers watched helplessly as inherited asssets and property worth millions of naira which the aggrieved youths and leaders in the community set the property ablaze.

The raging inferno, accordIng to a source in the community, started in 2005/2006 as aggrieved community leaders and youths set every inherited property and assets belonging to one Collins Akhabue Omuada on fire while others chanted “we don’t ever want to
set our eyes on Collins Akhabue Omuada in this community again. He has been banished from this community”.

Trouble was said to have started for the embattled Collins Akhabue Omuada in 2005/2006 after the sudden death of his father who left behind valuable landed property and assets which later became the bone of contention in the community between him and elders in the community.

On several occasions, he was compelled to sell off his inheritance, it was confirmed.

His obstinate refusal to heed the counsel of the elders and leaders of the community to sell off his inheritance to them, however degenerated into a bloody violence in the community as angry youths staged by elders violently attacked him (Collins Akhabue Omuada) with dangerous weapons, the source disclosed.

It was gathered that Collins Akhabue Omuada’s left hand was severely
injured by the machete-wielding youths who inflicted life-threatening
injuries on him.

The bloody clash in Ewohimi community was also said to have led to the sudden collapse of one of the leaders in the community as the leader was later confirmed dead while he vas being rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, it was gathered.

The sudden death of the leader was said to have further plunged the community into deeper crises as it was said that the youths of the community conspired thereafter to eliminate Collins Akhabue Omuada, a development which however compelled him to flee from the community.

The police were said to have commenced investigation into the violence which led to the
death of one of the leaders in the community as no arrest was made after the bloody violence till date, it was gathered.

However, on March 13th 2013, after years of the violent bloody attack which claimed the life of one of leaders in Ewohimi community
and others injured, Collins Akhabue Omuada was said to have returned to an atmosphere of hostilities in Ewohimi as angry youths and leaders of the community were said to have set his inherited property and assets on fire in 2005/2006 with a stern warning issued to him to stay away from the community or risk losing his life, it was confirmed.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that Collins Akhabue Omuada, after the tragic destruction of his property to the fire incident in 2005/2006 which left his inherited property and assets in ruins, was said to have fled from the community in order to escape the violent wrath of his kinsmen in Ewohimi community as his whereabouts is said to be unknown to anyone in the community.
