Urhoghide Floors Obahiagbon —Dedicates Victory To God, Edo People


Urhoghide, the chairman of Senate Public Accounts Committee and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared winner of the Edo South Senatorial District.
He defeated his opponent, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon alias Igodomigodo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 13,631 votes.
Distinguished Senator Matthew Urhoghide scored a total of 135,588 votes as against his opponent’s 121,957.
Meanwhile, the re-elected Senator Mathew Urhoghide has dedicated his victory to God, the Benin Monarch, Omo N ‘Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, for his royal blessings and prayers as well as all Edo people which helped a great deal to galvanize popular support in his favour.
Speaking with journalists after he got news of his reelection, Urhoghide who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts also promised to fulfil all his electioneering promises including more opportunities for skills training and jobs for Edo youths and provision of additional social amenities in most rural communities in the senatorial district.
The Senator-elect also appreciated all residents of Edo South, pledging to live up to expectation during his second term.
Urhoghide said, “This victory is one that the Lord has made and we shall rejoice. It is victory for performance, quality representation and fulfilled promises for all my people in Oredo, Egor ,Uhunmwode, Orhionmwon, Ovia South West, Ovia North East and Ikpoba-Okha people.
“Let me announce today that I am the Edo south Senator of the PDP. I am the Edo south Senator of the APC. I am the Senator of all residents of Edo south.
‘This is a new dawn for Edo south. This will be another four years of people focused representation as your Senator. I speak to you with my vision that this time around, there will be a renewed effort on my part to reach to more communities than I did before because that is their expectation and I will not fail them,” he concluded.
