OSARODION OGIE: A VILLIAN OR SAINT?

The internal wrangling within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, was penultimate week taken to another dimension when some members of the party allegedly from Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State, purportedly passed a vote of no confidence on the Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), Barrister Osarodion Ogie.
But this was not to be as the leaders of the APC, Ikpoba-Okha Branch, swiftly reacted to the action of the group, describing it as illegal and unconstitutional.
According to the party Local Government Chairman, Barr. Kelvin Osasu Egharrevba, who presided over the meeting, said from all indications, the behavior of Messrs Osarobo Idahosa, Victor Ekhator, Aiyamenkhue Edokpolor and Paul Omoke, was tantamount to a coup against the leadership of the party at the local government level.
He vowed that the plot against him and other leaders of the party will not see the light of the day, nothing that any plot to topple him and others through illegal and unconstitutional means was bound to fail.
Barr. Egherevba, informed that the vote of no confidence passed against the SSG was a direct hot slap on his face and all well meaning people of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government.
Moreover, the group’s action is anti-party and a grand design to disrupt the smooth running of the party because of next year’s governorship election, he said.
The APC Local Government leader further disclosed that one of the conveners of the illegal group, Mr. Osarobo Idahosa, had earlier been queried for wrong doing by the party at his ward level.
“It is a lie that we have not been holding meeting in Ikpoba-Okha. We hold meetings every last week of the month. It has been long since my leadership has been targeted.
“It is targeted at the Governor of Edo State. What they have done is anti-party. I am the leader of the party in Local Government as the party Chairman.
“Somebody is beating the drum for them. They want to destabilize the smooth running of the Local Government ahead of next year’s election,” he said.
But before the meeting came to an end, all those that spoke were in support of the suspension of Mr. Idahosa for alleged anti-party activities, even as they accused him of failure to respond to the earlier query issued him.
They praised Barr. Osarodion Ogie to high heavens, describing him as a capable leader who is leading the party and Edo State to greatness.
“Osarodion Ogie is our undisputed leader. He has led us well and he is still leading us well. We have no other political Leader in Ikpoba-Okha. Come rain or sunshine, we will follow and support him.
“All those plotting his downfall are doing so out of jealousy and fear for his rising political profile. The truth is that such people are wasting their time because our leader’s best is yet to come”, they said.
The million dollar question now is whether Barr. Osarodion Ogie is a villain or saint?
