Gunmen Storm Edo School, Abduct 2 Teachers

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have taken into hostage, two teachers at Obi primary school in Avbiosi community, Owan West local government area of Edo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at about 10.40am while the victims (male and female) were teaching.
The hoodlums were said to have shot sporadically to scare people away.
A witness who craved for anonymity said: “the gunmen had wanted to abduct more teachers, but four others teachers quickly escaped”.
Police spokesman, Chidi Nwanbuzor could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
it was however gathered that that Security operatives who were supported by hunters rescued the male teacher on Monday night.
Chairman of the local government, Mr. Frank Ilaboya who confirmed the incident identified the female teacher as Mrs. Esther Alabi.
He disclosed that the other teacher’s identity would be released soon.
Ilaboya assured that efforts are being made to secure the safe release of the teachers .
The council boss who spoke through his media aide, Hassan Otinau said: “we are on top of the situation. There is hope that the female teacher will be out in no time.
According to him, “our thoughts are with the immediate family at this moment of uncertainty. Yes, we feel their pains, but we have to keep up the tempo of our search.
“I want to commend the security agencies, the youths and other concerned members of the public who trooped out in their numbers to join hands in the search party.
“And last night, the kidnappers made contact with the family and I personally spoke with Mrs. Alabi and urged her to be in good spirit that help was near,” he stated.
