The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Edo State chapter has congratulated the executive governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, for their victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
A press statement jointly endorsed by the ACNPN state chairman and secretary, Deacon Ralph Okhiria and Comrade Steve Ehichioya, said the association was pleasantly surprised that the Edo 2020 Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed all the four petitions challenging Obaseki/Shaibu victory in the September 19, 2020 polls.
“For this uncommon political feat, the leadership and entire members of the ACNPN, Edo State chapter, heartily congratulate Governor Obaseki, Rt. Hon. Comrade Shaibu and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“With these favourable tribunal judgements, it’s our expectation that the governor and all his political lieutenants will redouble their efforts in providing the much needed democracy dividends to the people of the state.
“Governor Obaseki must avoid the temptation of feeling at ease in Government House, but he should rather hit the roads running in order for him to fulfill the electioneering promises he made to the Edo people who overwhelmingly voted for him during the September 19, 2020 governorship election.
They, however admonished the people of Edo State, to continue to give their maximum cooperation and support to the Obaseki-led government, to enable it fast track the delivery of the dividends of democracy to their door steps.
